Trainee from Kenia at DPV

As part of the Distripress Training Foundation, the distribution manager Reuben Onyimbo from Kenia visited DPV Worldwide this week in order gain the latest know-how in distribution.

"For the first time we welcome an international trainee of the Distripress Training Foundation and are happy to spend a week with Reuben Onyimbo to make him acquainted with our distribution structures and share experiences with him", says Reinhard Feder, Managing Director of DPV Worldwide.

The training programme is organised and financed by the Distripress Training Foundation which is supported by the international publishing and press distribution association Distripress. The independent foundation promotes the exchange between publishers and distributors in developing countries with companies in more industrialised parts of the world. Young talents from less developed countries can be sent to selected Distripress members and be trained and specialised on short internships and workshops.

"For me as a regional team leader it is very useful to expand my knowledge of the trade and to learn about the work of a German press distributor", says Reuben Onyimbo. According to him, many details he learned at DPV Worldwide about marketing, subscriptions or finance can help to improve the structures and the efficiency of his employer in Kenia. The 40-year-old works at the Nation Media Group Ltd. in Nairobi, the biggest independent media publishing house in Eastern and Central Africa. He is the first to participate in the international training programme. Before he visited DPV Worldwide, Onyimbo spent a week to get an idea of the structures of "Newsweek" and the English distribution market.

"We have tried to cover all points of interest for Reuben Onyimbo in the training week, so that he can return to Kenia with a lot of input and distribution know-how", says Michael Cedzich, General Distribution Manager at DPV Worldwide. "It is really an enrichment for us to have him here at DPV Worldwide and we hope to work together with other candidates taking part in the Distripress Training Foundation in future."
