DIE ZEIT will extend its coverage in Austria and Switzerland

From 12 May 2010, DIE ZEIT will contain three extra pages instead of two in the two Alpine countries. Apart from that, the regional issues will have more individual country-specific cover pages than before.
Dr. Rainer Esser, managing director of DIE ZEIT: "We have considerably increased our circulation in Austria and Switzerland since the introduction of the regional pages. Our special thanks go to our two correspondents Joachim Riedl and Peer Teuwsen who have made DIE ZEIT a widely noticed and often-quoted newspaper in Austria and Switzerland", says the managing director of DIE ZEIT, Dr. Rainer Esser, to explain the decision.
The Austrian edition of DIE ZEIT started in 2005. Since then the circulation has been increased by about one third to more than 15,000 copies according to the publisher. The correspondent and head of the Austrian edition is Joachim Riedl. In Switzerland, DIE ZEIT has been published with extra pages since 2008. The regional edition with Peer Teuwsen as responsible correspondent has seen a sales increase of more than 50 per cent in the retail trade and about 60 per cent in the subscription trade since its launch.
